Our Mission
Spanish@UIC is a student-led organization dedicated to fostering community among UIC students interested in the Spanish-speaking world. Whether you are a native speaker, a heritage learner, studying Spanish as a second language, or simply curious about Hispanic cultures, you belong here.
We are open to all currently enrolled UIC students, regardless of major or Spanish proficiency level. Our community thrives on diversity of experience, background, and perspective.

Our History
Spanish@UIC was founded in Spring 2025 with a clear vision: to create a welcoming space where UIC students passionate about the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures could come together. Our initial interest meeting on March 3, 2025 brought together students from across campus, sparking what would quickly grow into a thriving community.
From our very first meeting, we knew we had something special. Students of all backgrounds — native speakers, heritage learners, language students, and culture enthusiasts — found common ground in their love for the Spanish-speaking world. Today, we continue to grow, connect, and celebrate together.

Spanish@UIC is proud to partner with the UIC Department of Hispanic & Italian Studies. This partnership connects our student community with faculty expertise, departmental resources, and academic programming that enriches the club experience.

Dr. Cabrelli provides guidance and mentorship to our leadership team, helping us align our programming with academic goals and fostering connections between the club and the broader university community.
LLC Language Department Partnership
We are grateful for our partnership with the LLC (Literatures, Languages & Cultures) Language Department at UIC. This collaboration allows us to bridge classroom learning with real-world cultural engagement, giving our members access to language-focused programming, conversation practice opportunities, and cross-departmental events.
Through this partnership, we aim to complement academic coursework with immersive, community-driven experiences that deepen language skills and cultural understanding.
